The Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462) lets eligible 18–30 year olds holiday in Australia for up to 12 months while working to fund their trip, with options to extend to a second and third year by completing specified work.
Overview
Subclass 462 is for young adults from eligible countries who want an extended holiday with short-term work and study options. You must apply with a valid passport, meet health/character and financial requirements, and not be accompanied by dependent children. China, India, and Vietnam passport holders must first be selected via a pre-application ballot. A granted WHM visa will cease if another substantive visa is granted later (which can stop you working), so declare your location correctly at lodgement.
