This visa allows children adopted overseas to move to Australia and live permanently with their adoptive parents.
Overview
The Adoption Visa (Subclass 102) allows a child outside Australia who has been, or is in the process of being, adopted by an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia permanently. It helps unite families and gives the adopted child the same rights as any other permanent resident in Australia.

Access Medicare and other benefits of permanent residency.
Sponsor eligible relatives for Australian visas.
Apply for Australian citizenship when eligible.
Travel freely to and from Australia for 5 years from visa grant.
Eligibility
The child must be under 18 when applying and when the visa is decided.
Must be outside Australia at both times.
Must be single (not married, engaged, or in a de facto relationship).
Must have a sponsor (adoptive parent) who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen, aged 18 or older.
Must meet health and character requirements.
How to Apply
Confirm the adoption is legal and valid under Australian law.
Collect all required documents
Submit a paper application while the child is outside Australia.
From 23 July 2025, paper applications can be imported into Immi Account for tracking and document uploads.
Once approved, the child can move to Australia as a permanent resident.
