To get an Australian Student visa (Subclass 500), you must be accepted into a full-time CRICOS-registered course, secure a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and apply online via ImmiAccount with proof of English, OSHC, sufficient funds, and health/character checks. You must meet the Genuine Student (GS) requirement and comply with visa conditions once granted.

Before You Apply

Get accepted into a CRICOS-registered course and accept your offer so your institution can issue your CoE. Gather key documents: valid passport, CoE, English test results (e.g., IELTS/PTE/TOEFL), evidence of sufficient funds for tuition, living and travel, and proof of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Complete any required health examinations and police checks as instructed. Prepare a clear Genuine Student (GS) statement explaining why you’re studying in Australia, how the course aligns with your background and goals, and your plans after study.

How to Apply

Create or log in to ImmiAccount and complete the online Subclass 500 application. Upload all required evidence (CoE, English, OSHC, finances, ID, health/character documents) and pay the visa application charge. If requested, provide biometrics and any additional information within the specified timeframe. Keep communications electronic and monitor ImmiAccount for updates or requests from the Department of Home Affairs.

After You Get Your Visa

Use VEVO to check your visa grant notice, conditions, and expiry. Maintain enrolment, meet course progress and attendance, keep OSHC active, and follow work limits while your course is in session. Keep your details updated with your provider and Home Affairs, and ensure there are no gaps in study or compliance that could affect your visa. As you approach completion, consider post-study pathways such as the Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485) if eligible.
