Student Visa Journey

Your student visa journey starts with an offer from an Australian institution, securing a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and lodging an online visa application with evidence of English, funds, health, and character. After processing, follow visa conditions and plan next steps like a Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) pathway.

Overview

Pre‑Application Steps

Begin by applying to your chosen education provider and, once accepted, review and accept your Letter of Offer. After meeting any conditions and paying required deposits, your institution will issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Next, gather all supporting documents: proof of English proficiency (e.g., IELTS/PTE/TOEFL), financial capacity to cover tuition, living and travel, a valid passport, and any required health and character checks. Prepare a strong Genuine Student (GS) statement that clearly explains your study intent, course relevance, and future plans.

Visa Application and Processing

Create or log in to ImmiAccount and complete the online Student visa (Subclass 500) application. Upload your CoE, English results, financial evidence, OSHC policy, ID, and any other requested documents, then pay the application fee. You may be asked to undertake a medical examination, provide biometrics, and supply police certificates. Processing times vary; some applications are decided in several weeks, while others can take a few months depending on case complexity and completeness. Monitor your account and respond quickly to any requests for further information.

Post‑Visa Approval and Next Steps

Once granted, comply with all visa conditions, including maintaining enrolment, achieving satisfactory course progress and attendance, holding valid OSHC, and adhering to work limits while your course is in session. Keep your details current with your provider and Home Affairs. As you near course completion, consider future options such as the Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485) to gain post‑study work experience, or explore skilled, employer‑sponsored, or further study pathways depending on your goals and eligibility.
