Special Purpose Travel Authority (945)

This visa allows certain foreign defence force personnel (and dependents) under a Status of Forces Agreement to enter and stay in Australia for their duty period.

What You Can achieve with this Visa

• Enter and remain in Australia while performing service duties under a recognised defence arrangement.
• Bring accompanying dependents (if eligible) as part of the approved service posting.
• Travel in and out of Australia within the validity of the posting and the visa.

Eligibility

You may qualify if you:

• Member of a foreign defence force under a recognised agreement with Australia.
• Arriving on official posting with valid orders.
• Dependents may accompany.
• Must meet health, character, and passport requirements.

How to Apply

• The foreign defence force or relevant government agency must nominate the person and obtain the necessary documentation.
• Complete any required forms and information as instructed by the Department of Home Affairs and submit supporting documents 
• Wait for decision and ensure you enter Australia under the approved posting and conditions.
