The Transit Visa (Subclass 771) allows you to transit through Australia for up to 72 hours while traveling to another country. It is also available to eligible maritime crew joining a ship in Australia.

What You Can Do with This Visa

  • Stay in Australia for up to 72 hours before leaving for another destination.
  • Enter Australia by air before joining the crew of an eligible ship.

Eligibility

  • You must leave Australia within 72 hours unless you also hold a Maritime Crew visa (MCV). If you hold an MCV and arrive in Australia by air on a Transit visa, you must join your ship within 5 days.
  • Must hold a valid onward ticket and the necessary entry documents for your next destination.
  • Must meet health, character and biometric requirements.
  • Must be outside Australia when applying.

  • Apply online through Immi Account before you travel.
  • Attach required documents such as passport, confirmed onward ticket, and entry permit for your next destination.
  • Wait for the visa decision before entering Australia.
