Assessment Pathways
The ACS offers four distinct pathways for migration skills assessment, each designed to suit different backgrounds and qualifications:
- Post Australian Study pathway: For international students who have completed an Australian bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in IT, Data Science, or Cyber Security. Applicants must have at least one year (365 days) of relevant Australian IT work experience or have completed the ACS Professional Year.
- General Skills pathway: Designed for experienced IT, Data Science, or Cyber Security professionals with recognised tertiary qualifications and substantial work experience. This is the most common pathway for seasoned professionals.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway: For professionals with significant practical experience in IT or Data Science but lacking formal tertiary qualifications. Assessment is based on demonstrated work experience.
- Temporary Graduate 485 (Post-Vocational Education Work stream) pathway: For international students who have completed an Australian diploma or associate degree with a relevant major and wish to remain temporarily in Australia. Successful assessment supports application for a subclass 485 visa, allowing temporary stay with work and study rights.
Application process
Applicants can start their application online at any time, requiring proof of identity and payment of the application fee via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or PayPal.
Additional resources and support
- FAQs: Cover common questions about the importance of ACS assessment, required documents, adding experience post-submission, membership requirements, and qualification recognition.
- Info Hub: Provides detailed policies, occupation lists, ANZSCO codes, and document checklists.
